Nala Update September 2008

Hi Jamie & Lez,

Sorry about delay in sending some photos of Nala.
Feel free to use them on your blog!!
Nala and the children have adapted to each other extremely well and very quickly
One of her favourite spots is the dressing up box as you will see from one of the photos.
Nala has become very much Adams cat... he gets up early to feed her and is the first to give her a cuddle in the morning.
Lauren loves her to bits as well (when she can get a look in!)
I can't recommend the british short hair breed enough to my friends especially those with children.
She has been a delight!

Best Wishes

Karen

Clarobe FluffStar - Lowlander / British Variant

A few words from FluffStars Family ;

"We first saw Fluffstar when we searched the internet following the loss of our beautiful British Shorthair Mr. Bluesky.
I first alerted my wife Debra by calling out to her and telling her to come and look at the most amazing kitten that I had ever seen. We immediately decided that we wanted to visit to see her and after doing so we had made our minds up that she was going to be part of our family.
When we picked her up after a full induction from the breeders she soon settled into her new home and took to her litter tray without any accidents. We retained Star on her raw meat diet as we were most impressed by the condition of all of the Clarobe British Shorthair cats which we had seen. She has grown rapidly and is very fit and healthy and when we took her to be spayed at the local vets she was the centre of attention with comments of how they had never seen such a lovely fit and healthy cat with such a beautiful coat.
Stars coat needs to be groomed every day to prevent knots but she is quit happy to oblige with the exception of her tummy which is where most of the knots can form so we have a little battle with Star winning without any defeats to date.
Her personality is like no other cat that we have owned and she likes to chase toys just like a dog by returning them to your feet for you to throw again. She constantly talks to you and in the morning the noise is incredible as she cries out loudly for you having the audacity to lock her out of the bedroom for the night.
She does like to go outside but only when we are with her and she makes no attempt to leave the garden and insists on being able to see us at all times. She has met a couple of the local moggy's and has swiftly chased them from the garden. I don't think that she would be a good fighter it's just that they must think that she is a Lion or unusual Bear with her gorgeous long fur.
I would recommend a Variant/Lowlander to cat lovers but they must realise that grooming is very necessary and there will be loose hairs to contend with but every pleasure comes with a price and Fluffstar is our little pleasure who we love to pieces.

Star is daughter to our blue and white bi-colour Maisie - the only cat that matters in my (jamie) world!

She sounds just like her mother! Many thanks goes to Star's new family for taking the time to write to us with the comments above. It is always great to hear how our Clarobe Kittens are getting on, and it is especially nice to know that all of the hard work that we put into raising and handling our cats is repaid in their obvious star quality as they grow! Pardon the pun ha! Star is looking wonderful - Thanks again.

Kind regards Jamie and Lez

Clarobe Fluffstar - British Variant / Lowlander

Clarobe Fluffstar aka Star is a beautiful British Variant, also known as the Lowlander.

She was bred from our 2007 mating of Masie and Champion Skellum Star of Ambrose.

Here at Clarobe we absolutely adore the British Variant and feel over the moon that we are able to reproduce such fantastic examples of this little known variation to the traditional British Shorthair. In this years litter with Meika and Dudley we have bred the most beautiful Cream Lowlander who we know willl mature into an absolute cracker!

These two photos were sent to us by Fluffstars news family, Kevin and Debbie from Britsol.

Thank you ever so much guys for the update - she is looking gorgeous!

Maisie's babies - growing quickly!

Well at nearly 5 and a half weeks Maisie's babies are growing into beautiful chunky little kittens! Just like their mother and father! We are especially proud of Honey Pot - a Tri Coloured British Shorthair Variant also known as a 'Lowlander.' The long haired gene is seen as a throw back to the Introduction of the Persian Breed into the British Shorthair following World War 2. As a result the Lowlander is not allowed to be shown as a British Shorthair at the current time. We here at Clarobe absoluteluy adore this variant, and anybody who looks at the photos above will see that she is absolutely amazing. We hope to have more Lowlanders in the future and have some plans that we will speak more about in the months to come!

The advantage of a Lowlander from Clarobe is that thier coats are very straight and as they mature they develop the most lushest of fur and thick maine! The British Isles does not have a native grown Longhaired Cat...room for thought!

For further details about Lowlander please contact us at :

The Clarobe Kitten Pen!

So when Lez told me to go and fix up a kitten pen, I didnt realise I would end up making a cat version of a world war 2 air raid shelter! I am almost certain the thing is so substantial it would take a direct hit! .......and as with every thing about us blokes, every thing has to be bigger and better and so on that note - here it is...the all new bigger and better Clarobe Kitten Pen!

The Boys enjoying the Sun!

Both Cloudmaker Lionheart ( Leo ) and Cloudmaker Edward Bear ( Dudley ) are best of the friends. We thought we would host a few update photos of them to show them off as they grow. They are both still young men but with the most out standing temperaments and characters, they are maturing into proper lads! They are both a pleasure to own and have the most gentle of personalities. They are the future Clarobe Boys since Maverick was retired and we cant wait to see their future off spring. They will sure bring heavy bone and great temperaments to the table so watch this space!

Clarobe Pavarotti Video

video

Well we thought we would host a quick video of Clarobe Pavarotti during one of his quiet moments! Pav is just like his father Maverick in that he loves to chatter just about all the time. He also likes to make it known that he is the boss when you pick him up, so we are slowly getting him used to the idea that he has to sit still when he is picked up ha!

Anyway here is a video of one of those moments when Pav experience's a light bub moment, and realises it is far easier just to sit still ha!

Maisie's Kittens 2007

Well our beautiful bi colour girl Maisie finally gave birth on the late afternoon of 08 / 10 / 2007. She gave us 6 absolutely lovely babies! 2 Blue males, a Blue and White bi colour male, and three tri colour females. From the minute they were born Maisie was busy cleaning them and huddling over them providing them with protection. She truly is a wonderful mother and she has produced the most gorgeous little babies - with a little help from Skellum Ambrose of course! We have already decided to keep one of the tri colour females and have named her Clarobe Madison. For lots more photos and videos of Maisie's litter please click on the link below:

Maisie update - nearly time to drop!

Well we dont like to wish our lives away but in Maisie's case the 9th of October 2007 cannot come quickly enough. She is already sloping around like a walking melon! The little babies are already very active and during her down times ( which is for most of the day! ) we lie with her on the floor and watch for hours as her little babies kick and move. We think she will make a great mother, but more importantly we are hoping for some beautiful kittens. The mating of Maisie and Champion Skellum Star of Ambrose should produce some lovely substantial kittens with a great pedigree that includes famous lines of Cats that have long since passed. Fingers crossed all goes well!!!

Skye's Kittens Photo Update

Well here are a few photos of Skye's babies.
Unfortunately despite our best efforts we were unable to save one of the litter, and following 5 days of worry and heart ache the beautiful little female passed away in Lez's hands. We nick named her 'Zena' as she was such a littler warrior!
One of the male kittens also had a bad start -
( just goes to show that breeding can be so full of problems. )
He was the smallest in the litter and continues to be smaller than his brother and sister.
The remaining male and female are absoluetly gorgeous and as you can see from the photo's, they are true little British Shorthairs! Just look at those heads and paws!

Clarobe Silver Phantom update - Thank you to Marie for your kind words!

I have recently purchased a Black Silver Spotted British Shorthair from Clarobe Cats and I would like to say here that I highly reccomend the breeders for all the time and love they put into the rearing of their kittens. My kitten Clarobe Silver Phantom aka. Norman by Lez and Jamie, but now called Jazz is simply wonderful, he is thoroughly socialised, extremely clean, bold but nice with it, he is the most affectionate cat I have ever had, he plays fast and furious, then sleeps for hours, almost friends with the Dyson and just so cuddly.

Lez and Jamie feed their kittens on raw meats - what could be more natural? I have continued with this practice and can see the benefits in such a lovely coat and just perfect health. When they bought Jazz home he came with a really good 'send-off' pack containing a lovely folder with all his details, pedigree and a CD with all his photos - all pretty impressive. They have handled the kittens so well that Jazz is not afraid of anyone, even with strangers he will sit on their lap and enjoy a fuss.

The Clarobe website is first class and I know just how much work that can be. The videos were such a help to study your prospective kitten's activities and to see its character develop.

If I have to buy another cat, it will be Clarobe I shall turn to.

Good luck Lez and Jamie for all your hard work with your cattery, I wish you every success and do come to see Jazz any time you like.

A little Thank you to Susan Foreman from Cloudmaker Cats

Cloudmaker Lionheart aka Leo aged 3 months
Cloudmaker Lilybelle aka Meika aged 4 and half months

Cloudmaker Edward Bear aka Dudley aged 5 months!

Before I turned off the computer this afternoon I wanted to put a few lines down in the Clarobe Blog to pay thanks to our dear friend Susan Foreman of Cloudmaker Cats. Susan has recently been diagnosed with the very life restricting disease 'Myasthenia Gravis' which entails long periods of steroid treatment to control it. Susan has subsequently decided that after 11 years of dedicated breeding and showing, that she will be slowing down and semi-retiring from breeding over the next few months. Susan breeds under the prefix of Cloudmaker Cats based in Essex. She has bred some out standing and beautiful cats including Grand Champion Cloudmaker LordHarlequin, Grand Champion Cloudmaker LadyWedgewood and Champion Cloudmaker Harlequin Lady to name but a few. We are lucky enough to own Cloudmaker EdwardBear, Cloudmaker Lilybelle and Cloudmaker Lionheart and we can personally say that they are the most well adjusted, stable and people orientated cats that we have ever owned. Dudley especially is the most laid back cat we have ever known, so much so that he has to be seen to be believed. He doesn't even stand up to drink water! The Cloudmaker trio have deeply ingrained them selves into the Clarobe family and we are very thankful to Susan for entrusting them to us. We are looking forward to see just how Dudley matures. Having the largest appetite in the whole house means that he also has the biggest belly! He is growing so quickly that a photo taken only two weeks ago makes him look like a 6 week old kitten compared to the cat sitting sound asleep by my feet as I type!
So to Susan we want to say thank you for all your help and guidance you have willingly given so far as well as a big thank you for allowing the Cloudmaker Trio to travel the 3 and a half hours down to Dorset to become part of our family.
Rest assured the Cloudmaker line will live on stronger than ever in Clarobe!

Well here is our newest addition to the Clarobe Family, Cloudmaker Lion heart bred by our good friend Susan Foreman. Leo will be Maverick's right hand man and will help in improving our blue lines. Leo's mother is the wonderful and large Cloudmaker GR CH Ladywedgewood who is a beautiful blue and white bi-colour. His grand father on his mothers side is Grand Champion Clovacat Wedgwood William who was also a blue and white bi-colour. We cant wait to see how Leo matures. Jasmine and Shreks Kittens are here!

Well our lovely little Jasmine proved to be a great mum when she gave birth to five beautiful little babies on the late evening of 17th April 2007. The litter contains 1 red spotty female, one silver spotty female, two silver spotty males and a beautiful silver tabby male.
Both mum and babies are doing really well. Even 4 days into life they are putting on lots of weight by the day and making lots of healthy noise when mum or the milk tanker decides to leave the nest for a breather!
The little guys were all delivered between the hours of 2300 hours on the late evening of the 17th and 0130 hours on the early morning of the 18th April.
We have set up a new album which for now can be accessed here:

Summer is Coming!

Maverick taking a moment out in the shade
...............................................................................................
Well today certainly has a summer feel to it - in fact the temperature in our garden this afternoon at 1430 hours reached 17 degrees, and its only the start of April! Its going to be a hot one I think!
The photo above is of maverick going about his daily walk around the garden. As of the end of April we hope to have renewed our existing fence
and completely enclosed the entire rear garden, which means all of our cats will be able to enjoy this coming summer from outside, instead of just looking at it through a window! We cant wait to see them romping around in the sun - it will be a dream come true.We will post photos to the blog as soon as things are up.
Enjoy the sun all!

Welcome home Dudley and Meika!

Cloudmaker Lilybella aka 'Meika'

Cloudmaker Edward Bear aka 'Dudley'
So with the new year, comes a new focus to the Clarobe household. We are still suffering the loss of our lilac girl Abi, but the tiny patter of paws racing around the house is certainly helping us to move on. Two of our newest arrivals are Dudley and Meika, pictured above. Both kittens are wonderful examples of the breed and are both rock solid in temperament and character. They are also both continuing the line of great Cloudmaker Cats, owned by our dear friend Susan Foreman of Essex. Cloudmaker Cats have produced some wonderful Grand Champions and champions over the years. In fact Meika's father is the very handsome Grand Champion Cloudmaker Lord Harlequin who both Lez and I adore.
We will keep our fingers crossed and see how they both do on the show bench in the months to come.
